Mid-week update · 3 Nov 2026
Narrative #1, “Frontier-lab economics go public”, moved: Anthropic filed Amendment No. 1 to its Form S-1 with Q3 and nine-month numbers. Share count and price range are still blank.
What moved
Narrative #1 from W44, “Frontier-lab economics go public”, accelerated. On 2 Nov 2026 Anthropic filed Amendment No. 1 to Form S-1 (EDGAR accession 0001628280-26-068676), adding Q3 and nine-month numbers. The share count and price range are still blank.
The numbers
Per CNBC’s write-up of the S-1/A; primary source is the EDGAR filing
- Nine months to 30 Sep 2026: revenue $33.24B, up about 1,200% year over year.
- Net loss $104B over the same nine months, mostly fair-value changes on convertible notes and derivative liabilities.
- Q3 2026 revenue about $17B. Quarter-over-quarter growth slowed to about 47%, from about 144% in Q2.
- Purchase and lease commitments of about $895.4B, substantially all related to compute and infrastructure.
Why it matters
W44’s lead claim was that lab economics had moved from leaks to audited public numbers. The amendment is the next hard disclosure, though the offering is still unpriced. The commitments figure also ties to W44’s second narrative, hyperscaler free-cash-flow stress.
W44’s change-my-mind line (“no amended S-1 with a price range by ~20 Nov”) is not hit: there is an amendment, but no price range.
